Digital Media Portfolio
Welcome to the Processing Project page of my online Digital Media Portfolio.

"Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology. There are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping."

The only code I had done prior to this course was a tiny bit of CSS used in Adobe Dreamweaver. With help from David Jonas and the "Hello Processing" videos, I was able to pick up the art of Java coding pretty quickly, even though this is the first time using Java code.

We then had the freedom to experiment in Processing and using the reference page on the Processing website meant that we could try out all sorts of different code. We could also download some coding examples which we played around with, like changing the colour of an object or changing the actual object itself from an ellipse to a triangle for example.

I finished the session with a piece of code that allowed a red ellipse to travel freely around the screen. The screen size was 640, 360. The background of the screen was changed from white to think because it looks a tad boring when it was white. The only problems I had with Processing is the fact that I couldn't get it to work on my portfolio, so here is a video I made showing my final processing project. Enjoy.
